Conferences this FRIDAY Nov. 15th!

I am very proud of how hard you are working in Pre-Algebra this year. I am looking forward to speaking with your parents this Friday. All middle school teachers will be in the gym from noon to 5pm. All parents are welcome to visit any or all teachers. I hope you will take advantage of 10:50 dismissal on Friday to complete your math video projects. Remember scripts are due Nov. 19th and video or live presentations will be Nov. 21st during class and lab. I am so anxious to see your presentations!!!

Math Video Project!!

Great job on slope this week! We will choose our section and group to present a math video due Nov. 21st!! Now it's your turn to  out do my trek team videos!! I can not wait to see your videos!! Best ones will be posted on my web.

RED RIBBON WEEK

Join students across the nation taking a stand against drugs!! Our Red Ribbon Mass will be this Wed. 9:40. Students shadowing this week make sure you keep up with homework and new concepts. Please see me if you do not understand. Good luck with your high school decisions!!

Oct 17-18

Take this last opportunity and audition for the musical Thursday Oct. 17th!! Friday enjoy your Lewiston trip BUT make sure math homework is handed in before you leave!!

This Friday 9am will be the unveiling of The Alumni Hall of Fame! A wonderful mass will follow in our gym. All are welcomed to this great celebration of the talents of graduates of DeSales!!

Re Evaluate!

You have each gotten a 5 wk report today. This is the time to see if you are doing everything possible to do well in every subject especially math. Are you doing homework? Are you watching and taking notes on the assigned videos? Are you handing in corrected redos the next day? Are you coming to see me when you are confused? Only YOU can improve your understanding of math and thus improve your grade!!

OMG!!!

I can not believe next week is October!!! That means 5wk reports!! Most of you are doing really well even though the concepts are challenging. Two big musts-redos and homework!! Make sure you are not neglecting either one or your grade will reflect this!! Thursday October 3rd is a 7am mass day in the chapel. I would love to see you there!!

WEONA was Fun!!

I missed the 8th graders Thursday and Friday but heard the fun you all had at WEONA!! I am looking forward to seeing your parents on Thursday 7pm for "Back to School" night. Please make sure you watch and take notes for any videos you are assigned. Unless I tell you otherwise videos are listed on the Pre-Algebra Class Videos page on my web site. A few of you are still missing notes for video #8 and #9!! This week we will be working with Scientific Notation as well as sq. roots and  cube roots!

GREAT START!!

We are off to a great start! Wonderful to celebrate the 1st 7am mass with Elaina, Sam and Henry Murphy (and their parents) along with Mr. Schuster and Father Joe. Eighth graders try to make at least one 7am mass this year--you will not regret it!!

What a great picnic!!

Thank you so much for coming tonight! How exciting it is to see everyone again. Many of you have gotten so much taller! Many of you know now that I will be teaching Pre Algebra (8th grade), 7th grade labs, and AIS 3rd-8th grade. I am also now on the third floor (Mr. Beard's old room). I was very happy to introduce you to Mrs. Fraass. She will be teaching 6th and 7th grade math along with algebra (8th grade). She is a graduate of DeSales High School and is thrilled to be back at DeSales!!
I am so looking forward to being together this new school year.

Good Morning! Happy 4th of July!!!

Hope your summer is going well. I invite you click on my new page called "Trek TEAM videos!" I will be posting links to videos I am putting on YouTube as a summer math review. I will begin with a very easy basic intro to fractions and will get increasingly challenging. I hope to "Trek" to different places ( video fieldtrip) showing the importance of math.  My former 6th and 7th grade math students-this will be a great review to keep your math skills sharp. My new 6th graders (June 2013 5th graders)-I am so looking forward to knowing you better but in the mean time you will be able to know me better from my videos. Please join the Trek TEAM (Together-Exploring-Awesome-Math) and please check my website every week for new videos!! Keeping trekking!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I am so proud of our graduates 2013!! As Sister Carol Ann said in her graduation speech "You have places to Go!" You are ready! All your hard work has paid off! I join Dr. Fike in his wish, "I hope you dance!" Have a wonderful safe summer. I so look forward to September when my beloved 7th graders will be the graduating class; my wonderful 6th graders will become my 7th grade homeroom students; and I finally will be able to spend time and get to know better the 5th graders that will be my 6th graders!!! Final Days!!

Good Morning! This is the final wk of classes. We will be going over the final study guide in all classes. This FRIDAY in class you will be taking the short answer (12 word problems) part of the final exam. Next Wednesday afternoon (June 12) will be the 30 multiple choice part of your final math exam. Please study your study guide.

GREAT JOB!!

The Fitness Run was a huge success as was the 150 year Celebration Mass for the Sisters. Thanks to all participants and the hard workers behind the scenes. We will be praying for the saftey and wise decisions that the 8th grade will be asked to make on their trip to Boston this week.

Nice job Wed. Thurs. and Friday on math state exam!!7th and 8th graders have begun "teaching" for their final review and project grade. Their posters are due Monday April 29th. Continue to work on your final study guides. Math final is 6 weeks away!! Enjoy the sunshine this weekend!

I am so proud of how hard you are working this wk! Please stay focused so you will do your best next Wed, Thurs and Fri on the Math State Exam!! You are well prepared--please read carefully and you will do well on the exam!

Last Big Push before Math State Exam!!

We will be reviewing and reenforcing concepts so we will be ready for the Math State Exam on April 24th, 25th, and 26th! Meanwhile (7th and 8th graders) keep working on your major teaching project (all specifics found on "Teaching Project" page on this blog!). Written typed (2 copies) due April 18th!! This is a great opportunity to not only truly know the concept you are reteaching but to greatly enhance your final math average for the year. Remember you must be present the day you are assigned to "teach". Looking forward to being together tomorrow morning in class! Hope you had a wonderful Easter Vacation!
